In addition to its unrestricted
endowment and component funds, West Central Initiative has
developed endowed Field of Interest
Funds to provide grants for regional issues. Grants provided
from the earnings on these endowed funds will benefit our
nine-county region.
Donors that contribute to a Field of Interest
Fund may be assured that their gifts, when combined with gifts
of others
with the
same interests, will continue to benefit the people of our
area in a manner consistent with the intended purpose of
the funds.
WCI Children and Families Fund: An endowed fund
whose earnings will support projects and programs that promote
the well-being
of children and families.
Senior Trust Fund: An endowed
fund whose earnings will provide support for projects and programs
that benefit
senior citizens.
Natural Resources Fund: An endowed fund
whose earnings will support projects and programs that address
issues
related
to our natural
resources.
Technology Fund: A fund to support the development
and application of new technologies and training that
will
help the region
become more competitive and provide quality jobs for
the people in west
central Minnesota.
How will the field of interest funds
be managed?
1. WCI will begin making grants from any
one of the funds when assets in that fund reach $100,000.
For example,
when assets
in the Technology Fund reach $100,000, grants
of up to $5,000 per year could be made, based on WCI’s
current policy.
2. Deadlines for grant applications for
each fund will be determined when the assets in each fund near
the
$100,000
level. Grant
guidelines for each fund will be published and
distributed at that time.
