Program Overview: This seminar will cover key legal issues involved in representing landowners who are participating in wind energy projects including:
Project Structures and Ownership
Available federal tax incentives drive the structure of wind energy project entities. Learn how these tax incentives impact local ownership interests.
Wind Easements and Leases
Get an in-depth breakdown of wind energy project site control documents and title and survey
issues relating to wind energy projects, from the perspective of the landowner.
Permitting Requirements
Gain an understanding of key permits required to site wind projects and how local landowners can
participate in these processes.
Estate Planning
The unique nature of "real property” creates its own set of issues in estate planning for land
owners who sign wind easements and leases. Oftentimes these issues go unresolved. This presentation will discuss planning considerations and common transfer strategies that you may use for this special asset.
Continuing Legal Education Credits: Southwest Initiative Foundation will apply to the Minnesota State Board of Continuing Legal Education for 2.75 standard credits for this program. |
