Transportation & GIS: Pine to Prairie GIS User Group
Group Pages
Pine to Prairie GIS User Group brings together GIS users in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Meetings are held quarterly at West Central Initiative and include networking opportunities, informational and educational presentations, and project and product demonstrations.
Meetings of the group typically attract attendees from about a 100-mile radius of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. However, anyone who wishes to attend a meeting is welcome to do so. Membership on the Web site forums isn’t limited geographically – anyone from around the world can join – the only requirement is an interest in GIS and a desire to participate in the discussion and share your knowledge with other GIS users.

We have used AutoCAD since the 1980's but are very interested in learning more about GIS. We have started (just learning how) building maps from shp files that we are able to import. Is there a good source of information to teach us about the advantages of GIS - what it is, what it can do, are CAD and GIS compatable, etc?? We would like to know more about it since clients are also inquiring. Thanks for any help you can provide.
