Family Initiative Continuation Grants

Description: Family Initiative continuation grants are intended to support communities that have successfully begun undertaking asset-based community development efforts focused on making their community a better place for children and families. Continuation grants are contingent upon communities having made sufficient progress with previous grant awards.

Eligible Applicants: Formal or informal community partnerships that are broadly representative of the diversity in the communities to be served. Proposals must be submitted by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization or unit of government willing to accept financial responsibility for the project;

Restrictions: WCI will not typically support projects that primarily or exclusively focus on:

  • Arts, cultural activities and festivals;
  • Sports or recreation-focused events;
  • Historic facilities or museums;
  • Religious activities;
  • Fund drives or fundraising programs;
  • Lobbying or political activities;
  • Social service programs; or
  • Buildings and equipment.

Amounts Available: Grants are typically subject to a dollar for dollar match. Matching requirements may sometimes be waived. WCI will consider requests up to the amounts reflected below:

Year of Operation Maximum Award
Second year $20,000
Third year $15,000
Fourth and subsequent years $10,000

Deadlines: Requests for up to $5,000 are accepted any time and will usually be processed within three weeks. Requests for $5,000 to $25,000 are accepted monthly and will usually be processed within six weeks.
