West Central Minnesota Transit Coordination Study

In 2006, West Central Initiative conducted a regional transportation planning study under contract with both the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

The goal of this study was to examine opportunities for coordination among transportation providers in west central Minnesota, focusing primarily on public transit and human service transportation services.

By delineating regional transit service performance levels, gaps and needs, it is possible to identify opportunities for coordination among various providers of transit and transportation services throughout the region.

Several benefits have already come to light as a result of the study:

  • A clearer understanding that coordination transportation services can be used as a tool to enhance economic and community development in the region.
  • Positive connections that were made among the various transportation providers that attended the meetings and workshops held during the planning process.

You may download the Transit Coordination Study below. The report is in pdf format and can be downloaded using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
