Battle Lake Area Community Fund
The Battle Lake Area Community Fund supports the Battle Lake area by granting funds to non-profits and schools as well as funding community projects.
To comply with bank requirements and prevent delays in deposits, all checks must be issued to West Central Initiative, with “Battle Lake Area Community Fund” in your check’s memo field.
Credit card payments will list West Central Initiative as the merchant on your bill but by using this donation page, your donation will be given to the Battle Lake Area Community Fund.
Designating West Central Initiative as the payee ensures that the Internal Revenue Service recognizes your tax-deductible contribution.
“Opening doors to opportunity…”
Local citizens established the Battle Lake Area Community Fund (BLACF) for the purpose of improving the quality of life in and around the community of Battle Lake and School District #542. We are here to help local non-profit organizations address various educational, social, civic, and business needs of the community.
Recent initiatives include a grant to the non-profit Lakes Area Community Center for the Hollo Gravel Classic bicycle race through glacial hills, prairies, hollows, and lakes of West Central Minnesota; support to organizations by serving as fiduciary through West Central Initiative to raise funds for businesses during Covid; for the Lions to purchase several Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to place around Battle Lake; and for the Battle Lake Pickle Ball Club to build pickle ball courts.
In addition to grant awards and fiduciary functions, BLACF supports community life through its annual “Home for the Holidays” events, which include setting up and decorating a Christmas tree in downtown Battle Lake and hosting a Santa/Craft event for children.
The Battle Lake Area Community Fund receives money in the following ways:
· Charitable Donations
· Memorial Fundraiser on Saturday of Labor Day: The Gathering of Airplanes: Memorial to Gerry Beck. Beck, instrumental in the formation of the Fargo Air Museum and master builder and restorer of vintage warbirds, died tragically in an airplane accident in 2007 in Wisconsin. The Beck family has a long-standing association with the Battle Lake community and continues to support BLACF as we remember Beck and his dedication to restoring WWII warbirds.
· Planned or Estate Giving
We thank you for your support as you join with us in improving the quality of life in and around Battle Lake.
