Playing, reading, brushing teeth: The Early Childhood Dental Network (ECDN) wants to help parents and caregivers remember how important all three are to a child’s overall health and well-being. The ECDN is launching its 2X a Day campaign, encouraging parents and caregivers to play, read and brush one’s teeth twice a day with their children.
“Playing, reading, brushing two times a day or more provides daily interaction—something both parents and children look forward to—instills good habits enjoyed for a lifetime, and helps build strong and healthy mind, limbs and mouth’,” said Jane Neubauer, ECDN Coordinator. “With Halloween around the corner, it’s especially important to remember to brush.”
As a helpful reminder, the ECDN is providing a free 2X a Day magnet to parents and caregivers.
“The magnet also turns into a picture frame. Your child’s face will be an even better reminder to play, read, brush two times a day or more,” Neubauer said.
The magnet is available from ECDN members across the region. Watch for information in your local newspaper, radio or Facebook feed. Or order a magnet at http://wcif.org/2x-a-day/.
The ECDN is a nine-county, multi-disciplinary collaborative project and an outgrowth of the Early Childhood Initiative coalitions of west central Minnesota. It is designed to increase awareness and education to all children and their caregivers about the importance of oral health, and to increase access to dental care, specifically to the 0-5 population on Minnesota Health Care Programs or the uninsured.
